Alexandra Lo Re, LMSW, received her master’s degree in social work from Adelphi University in May, 2012. Before entering Adelphi, Alexandra worked as an assistant editor for a curriculum-based publishing company in Manhattan. As a student in her social work graduate program, she interned at an early-elementary school and a pediatric psychiatric facility. In both settings, Alexandra centered her study on the use of group work as an effective intervention for traumatized children and families. She also worked as a research assistant and presented at both the 2011 and 2012 IASWG symposia. Additionally, Alexandra was on the Planning Committee for the 2012 IASWG Long Island Symposium, and served as the Student Volunteer Coordinator. Currently, Alexandra assists patients in need of stabilization, counseling, and community outreach as a social worker in an adult Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program in a New York City hospital.
